THE INFLUENCE OF URBANIZATION ON LOCAL CLIMATE AND ECOSYSTEM HEALTH
Keywords:

Urbanization, a driving force behind the global increase in population density, plays a significant role in altering local climates and ecosystems. The conversion of natural landscapes into urban areas leads to changes in land use, greenhouse gas emissions, and the heat island effect, all of which contribute to climate fluctuations and ecosystem degradation. This study explores the multifaceted impact of urbanization on the environment, specifically focusing on local climate changes and ecosystem health. The research emphasizes the role of urban infrastructure, population density, and industrial activities in shaping environmental outcomes. By analyzing data from various urbanized regions in Pakistan, the paper examines how urbanization influences microclimates, biodiversity, and natural resource availability. This study highlights the urgent need for sustainable urban planning strategies to mitigate the adverse effects of urbanization on climate and ecosystem health.
