Abstract

Burnout is a growing concern among healthcare workers globally, with significant implications for their mental health, job performance, and overall well-being. Emotional regulation, the ability to manage and respond to emotional experiences in adaptive ways, has been identified as a key factor in preventing and mitigating burnout in healthcare workers. This article explores the relationship between emotional regulation and burnout among healthcare professionals in Pakistan. Through a comprehensive review of literature, the article examines the impact of emotional regulation on emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, and personal accomplishment—three core components of burnout. The study highlights the importance of emotional regulation strategies such as mindfulness, cognitive reframing, and emotional awareness in reducing the risk of burnout. Additionally, the article offers recommendations for healthcare organizations in Pakistan to incorporate emotional regulation training as part of their wellness programs to improve the well-being and performance of healthcare workers.
