THE INFLUENCE OF DEFORESTATION ON REGIONAL CLIMATE PATTERNS AND RAINFALL DISTRIBUTION
Keywords:

Deforestation significantly disrupts regional climate patterns by altering surface energy balances, atmospheric moisture content, and hydrological cycles. Changes in land cover through forest loss lead to reduced evapotranspiration, impacting local and regional rainfall distribution. This study examines the relationship between deforestation and shifts in climate patterns, particularly focusing on rainfall anomalies in affected regions. We integrate satellite-based deforestation datasets, climate reanalysis models, and case studies from South Asia to explore the extent of these influences. Our findings reveal that deforested areas show decreased precipitation levels, increased temperature variability, and heightened frequency of drought conditions. The research underscores the urgent need for reforestation and sustainable land management practices to mitigate climatic impacts.
